①Shimanami Kaido
The Kurushima Kaikyō Bridge is a series of three suspension bridges, approximately 4.1 km long, connecting Imabari City and Ōshima on the Shimanami Kaidō. It features a world-first design and offers spectacular views that harmonize with the scenic islands of the Seto Inland Sea. A dedicated cycling path is also available, making cycling while feeling the sea breeze an exceptional experience. The scenery is particularly enchanting at sunset, captivating many cyclists.
②Large ship propeller
In front of Imabari City Public Hall, a gigantic propeller from a container ship is on display. This impressive monument, unique to the shipbuilding town of Imabari, has a striking diameter of about 9 meters. It is a spot where visitors can feel the city's maritime history and technological prowess, and it is also popular for commemorative photos. The display symbolizes the pride of Imabari's craftsmanship.
③Imabari Castle
Imabari Castle is a rare flat castle facing the sea, built by Tōdō Takatora, and is known as a 'sea castle' because seawater is drawn into its moats. It features beautiful stone walls and a white-walled main keep, and at night it is illuminated, creating a magical atmosphere. There is also a historical museum inside the castle where visitors can learn about the samurai culture of Imabari and castle construction techniques.
④Kirou-san Observation Deck
Kiro Observatory is located at the summit of Mount Kiro on Ōshima, which stands at 307 meters above sea level, and is one of the most spectacular viewpoints along the Shimanami Kaido. From the observatory, designed by architect Kengo Kuma, visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of the Kurushima Kaikyō Bridge and the scenic islands of the Seto Inland Sea. The sunset and night views are particularly breathtaking. It is also an ideal stop for drivers and cyclists.
⑤Nankōbō Temple 南弘坊
Nankōbō Temple, the 55th site of the Shikoku Pilgrimage, is the only temple among the 88 with “bō” in its name. Located in Imabari City, it stands just steps away from Deco. Rebuilt after wartime damage, its serene grounds and majestic gate welcome pilgrims and visitors alike. A perfect spiritual stop on your journey through Shikoku.

大通智勝如来 (Daitsuchisho Nyorai)
The principal image of Nankobo (Temple No. 55), Daitsuchisho Nyorai, is a Buddha who appears in the Parable of the Transformed Castle chapter of the Lotus Sutra and is said to be the teacher of Shakyamuni. He is worshipped as the original Buddha of Oyamazumi Shrine and was also revered by the Kono Navy. It is a secret Buddha and is usually closed to the public, but there is an opportunity to view it once a year.
